Careers Education and Guidance

The careers team is led by Louise Charles, our Director of Aspirations, who can be contacted via email: lcharles@stangroundacademy.org or phone: 01733 821430.

She is supported on site by our careers' advisor, Liz Duckworth as well as Niki Reilly from NEACO. For more information regarding NEACO click here. Each faculty has two careers champions who are there to offer their expertise and support our students through the curriculum. Pupils, parent, teachers and providers can access further information about the careers programme by clicking on the documents at the bottom of this page.

Careers Intent:

All students to leave the Academy with aspirational, achievable goals and the knowledge, and confidence to pursue them. We aim to support the development of the whole individual in preparation for adulthood and lifelong employability skills.

Stanground Academy careers programme is reviewed annually. We assess the impact of our careers programme on our students by using the COMPASS tool on a regular basis, aligning our strategy with the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for valuable Careers provision and analysing student destination data.

All students will have access to Unifrog. This is a new platform that Stanground Academy are using to bring all the available information into one single, impartial, user-friendly platform that helps students make choices right for them whilst also assisting with the submission of the strongest applications. This allows our members of staff to manage the progression process from year 7-13 effectively.

All students in Year 10 & 12 complete meaningful work experience in the Spring Term.

At Stanground Academy we want to work with employers as research shows that young adults who have greater levels of contact with employers whilst at school are significantly less likely to become NEET (not in education, employment, or training).

This information will be monitored throughout the academic year in line with the statutory guidance, and a full review will take place by September 2024.
