Progress Checks & Grades

Progress checks

There are four progress checks throughout the year; for years 11-13 there are only three progress checks. The fourth progress check will occur during examinations.

What do the grades mean?

  • Year 7 and 8: for each subject your child studies, teachers will give grades for progress, attitude to learning and home learning.

  • Years 9 - 11: for each subject your child studies they will be assigned a MEG (Minimum Expected Grade) based on their KS2 results.  This is the minimum grade they are expected to achieve at the end of year 11.  Teachers will give grades for attainment, attitude to learning and home learning.

  • Years 12-13: for each subject your child studies they will be assigned a MEG based on their KS4 results.  This is the minimum grade they are expected to achieve at the end of year 13.  Teachers will give grades for attainment, attitude to learning and home learning.
